Traditional Finnish Sauna Experience
Sauna is an essential part of Finnish culture and everyday life. For Finns, the sauna is a place to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature and each other.
At Sauna Borealis, you can experience an authentic traditional wood-heated sauna by the peaceful shores of Lake Iso-Vietonen. The sauna comfortably accommodates up to four guests at a time. If your group includes 5–6 people, guests can take turns enjoying the sauna, relaxing in the outdoor hot tub, or spending time in the cozy lounge area. The hot tub accommodates up to six people.
In true Finnish style, washing is done using warm lake or spring water with a traditional bucket and ladle. The experience is simple, natural, and deeply relaxing.
A unique experience in every season
Winter offers the unforgettable experience of ice swimming (“avanto”). After warming up in the sauna, you can take a refreshing dip in the icy lake through a hole in the ice. The water temperature stays close to 0°C (32°F), creating an invigorating contrast to the heat of the sauna.
During summer and autumn, you can swim directly in the clean and fresh lake water while enjoying the sauna and hot tub. The sandy-bottom beach and peaceful surroundings create the perfect setting for relaxation. In summer, lake temperatures typically range between 15–22°C (59–72°F).
A spacious terrace overlooking the lake provides a beautiful place to sit back, enjoy the scenery, and breathe the pure Arctic air.

- Small snacks such as cookies and peanuts
- Water and soft drinks throughout your stay
- Access to a campfire area for grilling and relaxing outdoors
